Hi!

I’m Alex Grajeda, a Chicago-based street photographer drawn to the moments that reveal the city’s character. From quiet neighborhood streets and historic architecture to spontaneous interactions between strangers, I document the scenes that make Chicago feel alive.

My work is rooted in observation and timing. I spend countless hours exploring the city, looking for the fleeting moments, changing light, and everyday stories that often pass unnoticed. Rather than stage a scene, I prefer to let the city speak for itself.

Feeling Chicago is my ongoing visual exploration of the people, places, and moments that define this remarkable city.

My Approach

My approach is rooted in observation, patience, and timing, seeking out candid interactions, fleeting expressions, and unexpected scenes that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Whether photographing Chicago’s streets, architecture, or neighborhoods, I look for authentic moments that add context and emotion to an image. These unscripted details help tell a richer story, creating photographs that feel genuine, human, and uniquely tied to the city.

The Process

1. Observe
Every photograph begins with observation. I spend time exploring Chicago’s streets, paying attention to light, architecture, movement, and the subtle moments unfolding around me.

2. Anticipate
Great street photography often comes down to timing. I look for connections between people, places, and their surroundings, anticipating the moments that can transform an ordinary scene into a compelling story.

3. Capture
When the moment arrives, I capture it as naturally as possible. The goal is to preserve authentic, candid scenes that reflect the character, energy, and humanity of Chicago.
